After our quick weekend trip to the Redwoods (see post HERE), I got super excited to start planning our Ultimate National Parks trip for next summer. Our oldest daughter is about to start the 4th grade in a few short weeks, and if you don’t know about the Every Kid Outdoors Program you defiantly need to! When you have a 4th grader, the whole family can get into every national park FOR FREE!!! It starts in September of their 4th grade year and ends at the end of August when they start 5th grade.

Our BIG plan is to hit all the western national parks when our oldest is in fourth grade and the eastern parks when our youngest is in fourth grade. So to kick off the planning I bought an old school fold out paper map from Amazon so I can really start looking at our route and where we want to draw the line between western and eastern. There are a lot more parks on the western half of the states, but I want our trips to be balanced.

We plan to both take the whole summer off, buy a motorhome and just hit the road for three months. The biggest factor that will hold us up is the budget! I’ve been saving up to buy our motorhome, but during COVID all the prices went sky high on motorhomes, thankfully, I have noticed they have started coming back down. This trip is already years in the making, so fingers crossed we pull it off!
