Last Minute Updgrades
This last week we made a few last minute investments and upgrades into Fleetwood to make the trip a lot more enjoyable and safer!
Living on the Oregon Coast you never really know how well your AC is working until you leave town! Coming home from Crater Lake, we noticed it wasn't super cold. We had it recharged last week, and thankfully we did, it was down more than half! This week Fleetwood went in for six new tires! That wasn't in the plan, but the tires were 10 years old and separating. So we went ahead. Plus we'd rather not be on the side of the road dealing with a blow out...or worse.
When talking with the guys at the RV shop about the best way to get power on the move. They recommended this inverter off Amazon so we could have power to run the crock pot while we are heading down the road. DJ spent good chunk of time getting that installed once it arrived, but it works perfectly!
Another upgrade we did was to change out the bathroom faucet. With the old faucet, it was so close to the edge of the sink you couldn't wash your hands. We ordered this one first, but the knobs were too close to the mirror and wouldn't work. So we returned that one and got this one. DJ got it installed easily and we now have a functional bathroom sink!
So when we got home, we finally put the table saw my brother left us before he left on his adventure to use. We had three sheets of plywood left of from last summers projects and extra handles left over from Fleetwood's makeover, so we made 5 drawers that fit perfectly under the couch in Fleetwood. It ended up being more storage than the girls needed!
I'm so glad we did a long weekend trip before the BIG trip. I noticed things that bugged me or were hard to deal with in the small space. One thing was all the little things that didn't seem to have a home, like chargers, or things that needed to be moved for travel. With moving everyday on our BIG trip, I didn't want to have to completely rearrange everything, everyday! I got some Dollar Store wire baskets and these screw on cable wire clamps.
However, in reading the advice on a Facebook group for RV Newbies, they all said NEVER use screws in the walls. So those were returned for these adhesive clamps. All the reviews commented on how "strong" the adhesive was, so I figured these were the ones.
Nothing like some last minute projects!
